When I think about my own mom and my upbringing I choose to focus on all the good things that I learned from her.Like being a hard worker, not being ruled by my emotions and the importance of keeping my physical appearance attractive. Even though, I had some very difficult experiences. I have learned some things that are wonderful, and some to avoid and improve upon. As I reflect on what it is to be a godly mother,
| Me and My mom. |
He wants me to help them to see him as a loving nurturing God, and I do this by relating to them in a patient,kind and loving way, when they are physically hurting, having a difficult time emotionally or feeling afraid.
He wants me to teach them that he is a provider of all of their needs, by not complaining about my needs. But by pointing out to them needs that our family may have, then praying in their presence about those needs.Then sharing with them how God answered that need when he does, and having them thank God with me for the answers.
Final but not least, or also not because there are not other things that he wants me to teach them, but because of keeping this simple; he wants me to teach them that he is a powerful God by always pointing them towards him. When there are things that are impossible for mom to fix or explain. My husband and I direct them to him during our daily devotional time with them
Being a mom is not an easy responsiblility but it is truly a rewarding one. It has caused me to draw closer to God in prayer as I daily ask for wisdom and strength to lead my children in the way that he would have them go. My prayer is that this would be the goal of every mom.
Dear Abba, I thank you that you love me. First as your child! You have entrusted these children to me because you have placed something in me to impart to them. I ask that you would daily help me to remember to rely on you for the wisdom and strength that I need to accomplish the task that you have set before me. Help me not to set expectations on myself that are not from you. Also help me not to compare myself as a mother to anyone else. However, bring moms into my life that I could glean from, that could encourage me, and that I could be an encouragement too. I thank you that you gently lead me every day. In Jesus name Amen.
Isaiah 40:11
The Voice (VOICE)-Bible Translation
11 He will feed His fold like a shepherd;
He will gather together His lambs—the weak and the wobbly ones—into His arms.
He will carry them close to His bosom,
and tenderly lead like a shepherd the mother of her lambs.
